How is the pollution resistance of composite insulators?

Silicone rubber shed/housing material surface is hydrophobic not only when it is new, but also when the hydrophobicity temporarily lost in the operating conditions of the line, the hydrophobicity will recover. Water forms water droplets on the surface of the material, and the thin film of the silicone rubber liquid basically engulfs the pollution, thus inhibiting the dissolution of ionic substances in the water, providing a high surface resistance, reducing the leakage current, and improving the pollution flashover voltage. This property is maintained even as silicone rubber materials age. Thus, the reliability of power transmission is improved and the cost of cleaning and maintenance of insulators reduced obviously.
